Illuminated Forms: Integrating visual art as writing portals w/ Katie Guinn and Domi Shoemaker
A four hour generative multi-media lab (with plenty of breaks to move, process, and pee)
Saturday June 28th, 1-5pm Pacific
This session will be recorded and shared with all registrants for a limited time afterwards.
How may we utilize art techniques and tools that have existed for thousands of years to help illuminate our own creativity today?
How may we use the process of creating visual art as a portal into our writing practice? How can the movement of our brains through our bodies making art conjure the stories and threads within that we are looking to tell?
In this one-day collaborative lab, we will gently explore the artform and techniques of Illuminated Manuscripts, then apply that directly into our writing practice. Call it embellished journaling, call it cross-pollinating. Tapping into the flow of writing and art together has the ability to amplify our creativity.
We will go over some basic art techniques in order to get you going!
You do not have to identify as a visual artist to participate and enjoy this lab. Rulers and compasses exist for a reason.
What you will need:
A Journal (Can be lined or blank) If you choose to use paint, I recommend a sketchbook like this.
A Favorite pen/pencils
These mechanical pencils and erasers are some of my favorites.
