Full Manuscript Developmental Collaboration with Janice Lee
Dear beloved humans,
For the first time ever, Janice Lee is offering full-length manuscript consultations, especially for hybrid works or projects that defy genre categorization. As a multi-genre and interdisciplinary writer and thinker, Janice will provide a unique vantage point considering both overall narrative structure at the macro level, and considerations of language and syntax at the micro level. This collaboration will be a good fit for you especially if:
- you are interested in experimental and alternate narrative structures
- you are interested in thinking more deeply about decolonizing story, narrative structure, and language
- you have a complete manuscript draft but are feeling stuck on where to go next
Janice will provide:
- a close reading of up to 300 pages
- a substantive letter between 10-12 pages with observations on patterns that are currently working in the manuscript, generative feedback aimed at opening up new possibilities in the project, and possible revision suggestions & strategies
- a one-hour long Zoom session to delve deeper into the process, ask follow-up questions, brainstorm ideas, and plan next steps
Janice will only be accepting 4 manuscripts. The 4 available slots are as follows:
Manuscript Due-to-Janice Date // Manuscript Returns-to-You Date
March 1 // April 30
April 1 // May 31
May 1 // June 30
July 1 // July 31
Rates:
• $1850 for up to 200 pages
• $2750 for up to 300 pages
Note: The majority of all proceeds for this offering will go towards supporting Corporeal Writing's mission, Corporeal Writing's BIPOC Scholarship Fund, and to various nonprofit organizations committed to supporting the liberation of Palestine, to supporting queer and trans youth, and to resisting the current administration's policies.
Due to the labor-intensive nature of this offering and because the aim is to raise funds to support our community, there are no scholarships or discounts available.
Application Process:
Please use Submittable to submit a brief cover letter (describing why you'd like to work with Janice and why you think it would be a good fit), and the first 5 pages (double-spaced) of your manuscript. You will also specify which deadlines you prefer (please list all options that work for you).
If you are selected, you will be contacted by Daniel.
You will submit a FULL draft, meaning that it is drafted from beginning to end. The manuscript will be double-spaced, standard 12 pt font, 1 inch margins.
You will be asked for a $800 deposit to secure your spot. Your deposit is non-refundable. The balance will be due 2 weeks prior to your turn-in date.
